RVS Holiday Lunch this wednesday!We hope that our students come ready to feast on Wednesday, December 20th. We will be having a holiday meal of turkey, ham, mashed potatoes, coleslaw and a bun. This meal is prepared by Mrs.Lamont in the kitchen. BIG THANKS to her and to all the staff who will help serve the meal. HELLO WInter FairGrade K-6 students will be participating in activities on Friday, December 22nd as we kick off the last day at school before the holidays. Please stay tuned for updates and permission letters home to parents/guardians. Grade 7-12 students will pick a station to participate in on Friday as well. See the posters below for the variety of choices. If you are in Grade 7-12 and haven't signed up yet, please see Mrs.Fisher. Grade 7-12 Dance highlights and K-6 dance coming up tomorrow!The Grade 7-12 students had their dance on Friday. Lots of moves and good times had by all. The K-6 students will be having their holiday dance in the afternoon on Monday from 2:30-3:30pm. Roots of empathy baby Time is passing by so quickly, but I think we may have forgot to mention our Roots of Empathy baby! Our Grade 7/8 classroom has been doing the Roots of Empathy program this year. Our baby is Rylee Penner. We are loving have Rylee in our school and will be celebrating with stations this week for a holidays wind-up. The Grade 7/8 class has learned so far about the first few months of baby development, emotions, and caring for a baby. Last week we practiced changing diapers and the cost of supplies for one month. Winter break datesJust a reminder to families that the last day of school before winter break is on Friday, December 22nd. We will resume classes on Monday, January 8th. Cutting through the smoke: vaping and smoking resource for families (Prevention, awareness, and education)The Manitoba Lung Association has developed a resource for families that focuses on ways to talk about vaping and smoking. The latest youth statistics in Manitoba show: • 29% of students in grades 10 – 12 reported trying a cigarette (daily or occasional) • 3% of students in grades 7-12 are current smokers (Source: 2018-2019 Canadian Student Tobacco, Alcohol and Drugs Survey) •Manitoba students in grades 7-12, use of vaping products increased by a substantial 21.5% in 2019 (Source: 2019 Canadian Statistics, Manitoba Youth) Please click on the PDF below to find the Manitoba Lung Association resource.
